NYS Film Tax Credit Update & Petition

In case you haven't been following the recent news, Governor Hochul has a new proposal for the NYS Film Production Tax Credit to start in 2024. With the new legislation, the plan is to increase the credit from 25% up to 30% for all eligible production and post-production in New York State. There is also potential for a bonus 10% film tax credit available specifically for labor costs incurred in upstate New York. The potential change for increased incentives can help lead to more film and TV crew working in the state, leading to job creation, economic growth, and a more vibrant cultural scene.

To make this possible, the industry needs your support! The New York State legislators still have until April 1st to finalize the state's budget. This past week, the Production Initiatives Association (PIA) has gone to Albany to help advocate for the Governor's plan for a more robust film incentive.
